What are the courses offered by the department?

The Department of Plant Molecular Biology offers two courses: M.Sc. in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology.

What are the requirements for admission to M.Sc. program?

The candidates must have completed the 10+2+3 years of formal education. A student seeking admission to this course must have passed bachelor in biological, chemical or physical sciences with at least 60% marks in the main subject (in case of Hons. Courses) or in aggregate (for other courses). Appropriate relaxation for candidates belonging to the reserved category is applicable as per the university norms. 

I am completing last semester of my undergraduate studies. Am I eligible to apply for Master’s program?

Candidates whose results have not been declared but are expecting to pass in the first division can appear in the entrance test.

What is the eligibility for admission to Ph.D. program?

The candidate should have a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA score) in M.Sc. /M.Phil. /M.Tech. in the broader areas of Plant Sciences /Biological Sciences/ Biotechnology /Bioinformatics or other Allied Sciences from a recognized university/institute with an aptitude for Plant Molecular Biology. Appropriate relaxation for candidates belonging to the reserved category is applicable as per the university norms. 

How do I apply for postgraduate program?

All the candidates seeking admission to PG courses are required to register online. For the coming session, applications can be submitted online.  Please visit www.dpmb.ac.in and DU PG Admission Portal for announcement details.

How do I apply for Ph.D. program?

The Department of Plant Molecular Biology, UDSC invites applications for the Full-Time Ph.D. program twice in each academic year. All announcements will be made on the DU Ph.D. Admission Portal. Is there any reservation for SC/SC/OBC/EWS and other categories?

The department strictly adheres to the reservation policy of University of Delhi and Central Government Policies. To avail reservation, the candidates should present valid certificates at the time of admission issued by competent authorities which shall be validated by the admission branch. Are there any scholarships for master’s students?

Prestigious scholarships such as Monsanto Post Graduate Scholarship, South Campus Endowment Scholarships, Rotary Club Fellowship, University Postgraduate Scholarship and Jawahar Bhawan Trust Merit Cum Means Scholarship are open to students of the University of Delhi South Campus.

What are the funding possibilities for students who wish to enroll in Ph.D. program?

Candidates seeking admission to PhD course are encouraged to qualify national level examinations such as UGC/CSIR-JRF/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DST-INSPIRE. Those who qualify the entrance and the interview and do not have national level fellowship from the above agencies may be provided fellowships from the University. However, these fellowships are limited in number. Interested students may also apply project positions, which are advertised from time to time and are highly competitive.        

Are there any inter-disciplinary papers offered by other departments of the FIAS?

The syllabus of both the post-graduate and doctoral course is designed to allow students to choose inter-disciplinary papers which are offered by other departments of FIAS, depending on their interest, aptitude and learning needs, which are offered by other departments of FIAS.

Is it possible to visit the department? Whom do I contact for the same?

Are there any on campus housing and medical facilities for students?
